Goa season begins on October 15th and ends on the 15th of May. The variety of the beach resorts in Goa is almost endless. You can find anything from budget hotels, simple beach huts and rooms for rent, to luxury resorts, 5-stars hotels and boutique hotels.

Goa huts

While at the north of Goa most beach resorts and beaches are crowded with youngsters that are seeking for action, in the form of parties, shopping and just being seen, you will find peace and quiet in the much more serene atmosphere of south Goa. Most of the beach resorts in south Goa concentrate on Palolem and Patnem beaches, while the slightly remote but rapidly developing Agonda beach is not falling far behind them. The resorts on those laid back beaches offer quite a few attractions for their guests, like professional Yoga retreats on their premises, day travels to nature reserves, farms and old cities, boat trips, and much more. The beach resorts on Palolem and Patnem are family and children friendly, and you will find rooms spacious enough and well equipped for a family of 4 or even 5 persons.

Goa Beach Huts

Beach huts in Goa

Goa beach huts are probably some of the most popular accommodation options for a vacation in Goa, but especially common in south Goa – Palolem, Patnem and Agonda beaches. Staying in Goa beach huts gives a substantially different experience from staying in the other types of Goa hotels.
Either in a simple Goa beach hut or in a fancy Goa beach hut (or any beach hut in between) it is impossible to ignore the unique atmosphere and this sunlit, salty scented vibe that envelopes anyone who is fortunate enough to be a guest of a Goa beach hut resort. Although Goa hotels can be no less indulging, and in some aspects even more, if it's not a Goa beach hut resort it will always lack this elusive ambience.

Best time to visit Goa

The best time to visit Goa for a Goa beach hut experience must be between beginning of November - when the beach huts and resorts in Goa are built, and 15th of May, than Goa beach hut resorts are taken down for monsoon season.

Palolem Beach and Patnem Beach

The oldest and the most popular beach in Goa, Goa beach hut wise, is Palolem beach. This long stretch of white sandy beach in its semi-circle moon-like shape, accompanied by coconut trees on its entire length, is also densely populated with all possible types of beach huts. From Cozy Nook beach huts at its north to Green Park beach huts at its southernmost part, Palolem beach popularity keeps growing and attracts all kinds of travelers and vacationers.

Agonda Beach

The next most 'Goa beach huts' popular beach is Patnem beach. At Patnem beach there is a significant change when looking at its beach huts guests. It is immediately noticed, when arriving to Patnem beach, that the vast majority of tourists are actually families with children, who arrived for a Goa beach vacation. And Patnem beach huts resorts are well prepared and ready exactly for these types of guests. A lot of Patnem beach huts resorts have more than just a few beach huts that are spacious enough to accommodate a family of 4 or 5 members. It is possible to find such rooms at Cuba resort, April 20 and Salida Del Sol resorts, which are all very family friendly. Patnem beach itself has an innocent and very relaxed vibe, and is packed with children playing with each other on the beach or swimming together with their parents in the sea, while attentive lifeguards are spread every 50 meters along the shore, watching them.

Accommodating in Goa

Accommodating in Goa beach huts suits anyone who is seeking a memorable vacation, whether a family vacation, or honeymooners, each can find their ideal Goa beach hut and Goa beach hut spot.

Agonda vs. Palolem Beach

or What is the best beach in south Goa

If it happens and you arrive to South Goa, there is one character trait of yours that it is important to determine: Are you a Palolem beach person, or an Agonda beach kinda guy (or gal)?

The test is a simple one. You just have to ask yourself – do you feel more comfortable in a secluded, out of the way, community, or are you a person of the big - rushing, keep on changing, always busy – city.

Palolem Beach Party or Yoga in Agonda

Agonda Beach huts or Agonda Beach Resorts

If you chose the first option as the one that suits you better, you surely are an Agonda beach person.

Agonda Beach

Agonda beach Goa used to be a getaway beach from the center of happening – Palolem beach and its area. There were almost no beach huts in Agonda, but merely very few small guesthouses, that were mostly occupied by loners, that were seeking to enjoy the beautiful beaches of south Goa, but were also looking for some peace and quiet, that were not always so easy to find on Palolem beach.

Agonda Restaurants

Eating used to be simple – mainly local 'dhaba's, with south Goan food, and maybe one or two restaurants that their menus answered, somehow, to the definition of continental food.
Nowadays, Agonda beach is transformed quite dramatically. But in a good way. The season on Agonda beach is still short - when compared to what happens in Palolem - and it starts sometimes in mid November, and lasts only until beginning of April. The beach is still the same magnificent beach, very wide and long stretch, where you can always find many adorable spots, where the feeling is that the beach belongs only to you. So what has changed? The most obvious change are the beach huts that all of a sudden started appearing, without interfering with the general view of the beach. More beach huts means more people, but Agonda is actually large enough to give everyone the sense of semi-solitude they are looking for. Another interesting change is the food. Together with the beach huts (and other types of guesthouses), the food and restaurant scene also grew quite remarkably. There are very good restaurants that serve very good continental and other genres of food, beside the local south Goan one. Now, all of those loners, can also enjoy a good satisfying meal, without having to go all the way to Palolem.

Goa Resorts in Agonda Beach

The main road in Agonda has become a cheerful road planted with shops on both sides - not as big and loaded as in Palolem, but intimate and calm.

To conclude, Agonda now has it all – tranquility, solitude and the charm of a fishermen village, together with amenities and the ability to satisfy those simple everyday needs.
